Maile is the Yoga Director at The DRC. She understands the needs of our members because she CrossFit’s right along side them. She has helped show everyone at The DRC the value of Yoga and how it can be used injury prevention, as well as performance enhancement.
Having been a certified fitness instructor since 1993, Maile came to yoga in 2003 when her current fitness routine of cardio and strength left her feeling unbalanced and with no relief to back pain from scoliosis. After her first few yoga classes, she found not only a relief of pain, but also a sense of flexibility and focus never felt before. Maile also earned with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Indiana University.
In 2009 she completed her 200 hour certification from the YogaWorks® teacher training program and since then she has turned her focus towards a more therapeutic approach by continuing her education with Annie Carpenter and SmartFlow®. An avid tennis player, Maile believes the mental and physical benefits of yoga are often overlooked by athletes. As a 500 eRYT teacher, she has helped several Major League Baseball players as well as nationally ranked junior tennis players use yoga to rehabilitate injuries as well as improve their level of performance through their newly developed sense of balance, flexibility, and agility. She recently began CrossFit in 2014 and is now a true believer in the methodology.
“I look forward to showing people the benefits yoga can bring, not only to your workouts, but to your life.”
